In The Joshua Files you’ll find that I make use of the mythology of the ancient Mayan civilisation as well as theories for what will happen on 21 Dec 2012 (a date which some also translate as 22 Dec 2012). Remember, in the book I’m aiming to create a believable parallel reality. So I have freely blended fact and fiction.

In the world of The Joshua Files all this stuff is true! However - there’s a difference between facts (for which there is some evidence), theory (for which there may be none) and fiction (which is completely invented for sheer thrills and spills). I’m a former experimental scientist so deep down I’m keen not to propagate ‘bad science’ i.e. science for which no evidence exists.

This Research section then, is a guide to the mythology behind The Joshua Files: explanations for readers who’d actually like to know the reality - including the genuine Mayan studies and theoretical astrophysics which fired up my imagination to create a fun story for readers to enjoy!
