EmailCompletely thrilled to announce that DARK PARALLEL is on the shortlist for the Independent Booksellers Week Book Award 2011!!
The Book Award is unique in being voted on by booksellers AND their customers.
Independent bookstores are part of the lifeblood of a local community. All book-lovers remember their local indy bookshop - along with the library where we spent so many hours of our youth.
Like many authors, I imagine I'm carrying around quite a few 'bookshop moments'. Hours whiled away in Mortons of Didsbury, drooling over Tintin books, in Haigh and Hochland (my first Kafka - a present from my mother) and the Odyssey 7 sci-fi and comic bookstore near Manchester University. Right through to Mexico City's famous El Parnaso cafe and bookstore. It's the community factor, the continuity of the personal touch of the decor, ambience and the book selection. That's the stuff of memories!
So during 18th-25th June, get down to your local indie bookstore and VOTE JOSHUA!
