MG was delighted to spend time in the company of young readers for the very first time.

Heffer's Children's Bookshop in Cambridge organised MG's first ever school visits to local schools King's College School and The Perse Preparatory School.

M. King, librarian at King's College School writes:

The visit of author M.G. Harris started really well when one young man enthusiastically shook her hand and told her he thought her book was “immense!” Her talk about The Joshua Files: Invisible City, was equally inspiring. MG (as she likes to be known) talked about her childhood, her family, how she came to be an author, and then presented a fascinating PowerPoint slideshow giving us some real insight into the background of her book. She then very willingly answered as many questions as the children fired at her! It was a thoroughly enjoyable event and all were delighted when MG signed the copies of her book, which had been brought to the event by Heffers children’s bookshop manager Kate Johnson, and handed out hundreds of free Invisible City postcards! The excitement continues as the library is now busy with so many students trying to crack the code...

At Perse Prep, about 90 charming, young men from Yrs 5 and 6 asked MG questions which ranged from the erudite ("How did the Maya collapse come about?") to the personal...("What is your favourite pizza, comic, football team?").

MG asked students at both schools to help her come up with ideas for titles for book 2, something that's preying on our minds right now... The title suggestions were fired at MG, thick and fast!

MG says, "The children at both schools really impressed me with their enthusiasm and intelligence, their appetite for knowledge about archaeology and obvious love of adventure stories."

Many thanks to the librarians at both schools and to Kate Johnson at Heffer's Children's Bookshop for organising the day! And to Chris Webster (King's College School) and Alex Fieldus (Scholastic) for the photos.
